Who We Are
The Home-Delivered Groceries (HDG) program was created in 2015 in an effort to help seniors meet their food needs while continuing to age in place in the homes and neighborhood they wanted to continue to live in.
At it's inception the HDG program was serving 7 clients with the support of 7 volunteers. In the 6 years since the program began over 150 clients are being provided groceries each week with the help of more than 90 volunteers.
What We Do
The HDG program matches a volunteer with same 1-2 home-bound seniors or adults with disabilities each week. Bringing over a bag of food not only helps meet the critical food needs of the people in the program but it is also the excuse to knock on the door.
By being matched with the same clients each week, volunteers organically establish relationships that can turn into deep bonds. These connections help to lessen the burden of isolation and loneliness that so many in the HDG program contend with.
